Oakley Hall Wedding Photographer – A Beautiful Hampshire Venue

Steve and Jan’s wedding at Oakley Hall in Basingstoke was a fantastic day filled with relaxed moments, laughter, and some brilliant surprises for their guests. As an Oakley Hall wedding photographer, it was actually my first time photographing a wedding at this beautiful Hampshire venue, and it was great to experience such an incredible setting while capturing Steve and Jan’s story.

From the moment guests arrived at Oakley Hall, there was a real buzz of excitement in the air. Friends and family gathered to celebrate the couple, and the relaxed atmosphere made it the perfect day for natural and documentary-style wedding photography.

Oakley Hall Wedding Venue in Hampshire

Oakley Hall is a stunning country house wedding venue located just outside Basingstoke in Hampshire. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and elegant gardens, the venue provides a fantastic setting for couples looking for a relaxed yet stylish wedding day. The historic manor house creates an impressive backdrop, while the surrounding grounds offer plenty of beautiful spaces for guests to enjoy throughout the celebrations.

From a photography perspective, Oakley Hall is a brilliant venue. Between the elegant interiors, the sweeping lawns and the tree-lined pathways around the estate, there are so many great locations for natural wedding photographs throughout the day.

A Beautiful Ceremony in The Library

Steve and Jan’s ceremony took place in the Library at Oakley Hall, which is a beautiful and characterful room that creates a warm and intimate setting for exchanging vows. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, the couple shared an emotional and heartfelt ceremony.

The Library works perfectly for weddings because it creates such a personal atmosphere. As Steve and Jan said their vows, there were plenty of smiles, a few emotional moments and lots of laughter as everyone shared in the moment together.

A Brilliant Bagpiper Surprise

One of the highlights of the day came shortly after the ceremony when Steve surprised Jan with something very special. As guests gathered outside to celebrate, a traditional bagpiper suddenly appeared.

With Jan having Scottish roots, Steve had secretly arranged for the bagpiper to play as they walked out into the gardens. As the sound of the pipes echoed across the grounds of Oakley Hall, guests followed the newly married couple outside for drinks and celebrations. It was a fantastic moment and completely unexpected for many of the guests, which made the reactions even better to photograph.

Relaxed Drinks and Natural Moments

Following the ceremony, guests gathered outside in the gardens for drinks and congratulations. This is always one of my favourite parts of the wedding day to photograph. Everyone is relaxed, catching up with friends and family and celebrating together.

These moments are perfect for documentary wedding photography because they are full of genuine reactions, laughter and real emotion. Rather than staged moments, this part of the day is all about capturing the natural atmosphere as it unfolds.

Exploring Oakley Hall for Couple Portraits

As this was my first time photographing a wedding at Oakley Hall, it was great to explore the grounds with Steve and Jan for some relaxed couple portraits. The venue offers some amazing spots for natural photographs, from the tree-lined paths to the beautiful open lawns around the manor house.

Steve and Jan were completely at ease together, which made capturing those moments effortless. Rather than posing too much, we simply took a relaxed walk around the grounds and allowed the moments to happen naturally. This approach always leads to the most genuine and authentic photographs.

Speeches, Singing Waiters and Evening Celebrations

Later in the day, guests gathered for the wedding breakfast and speeches. The speeches brought plenty of laughter and some brilliant stories about the couple that had everyone smiling.

Just when guests thought the surprises were over, another brilliant moment followed as singing waiters suddenly burst into song. Within seconds the whole room was clapping, laughing and joining in, completely lifting the energy in the room and creating some unforgettable moments.

As the evening celebrations began, the dance floor quickly filled and the party atmosphere carried on well into the night as friends and family celebrated Steve and Jan’s wedding.
